A Walk in the Park

I took this one on our walk this morning. With the rain we've had the last few days the wildflowers are giving one last show before the heat of summer arrives in a few short weeks. I don't know what kind of flower those are but they are quite beautiful.

  1. Isn't it a rain lily? It's a kind of onion, but too pretty to eat.

  2. Yeah, it seems a shame to eat one. Still...would it be edible despite that it's flowering and going to seed soon? Some plants lose their flavor at that point.

A few weeks back a large section of the area had wild garlic growing all over the place. It was great. As we walked toward that area you could actually smell them. They grew a short while and went to seed pretty quick. Their flower was more of a huge pod. I've got a photo of it somewhere.
