The Mouse on the Mayflower
As Thanksgiving quickly approaches I think of my childhood and all the fun of that grand day. But I also remember the animated specials that I enjoyed and counted as part of that celebration. Most of these can only be found now on the internet. Here's one from Rankin and Bass from way back in 1968. November 23rd to be precise. Enjoy!

Cartooning Class
The kids in my cartooning class are starting to produce some fun comics. The goal is to try to create an original idea either creating an original characters and story or using existing characters to create "fan fiction". It's simply wonderful to watch the creative process in action. We've three classes remaining for the kids to wrap things up.

Garfield's Halloween Adventure (special episode, 1985)
I miss the network's Halloween specials. They don't seem to produce them any longer so I look to the past , as usual, to enjoy my t.v. special, Halloween fun. This is one of my favorites from way back in 1985. For a kid's cartoon, it's got it's share of genuine spooky moments. Enjoy!
Grim Grinning Ghosts
Happy Tuesday, my ghoulies ! Nursing a nasty head cold today so I think I'll spend it drawing some of my favorite subjects: cartoons! Have great day!

1966 Was a Very Good Year
I painted this a couple of days ago. It's watercolor on illustration board. I love Cesar Romero's portrayal of the Joker. Next up is the Penguin !

October Toons
I teach a cartooning class for kids in kindergarten to 5th grade for an afterschool program. Now that it's October, we'll be drawing a lot of Halloween related things like dragons , monsters and spiders amongst other things. The kids are great and enjoy the enthusiasm they have for drawing. It reminds me why I still make art: Because it's fun!

The War of the Worlds | Trailer - BBC
This looks like it might be a good movie. And since October is right around the corner what better time to have the latest version of the classic by H.G.Wells.

Sunday Afternoon Clowning
We had a lot of fun today making balloon animals for several hundred or so children and adults. It's always more fun when me and my wife get to work together too. Just the way we like it!

Saturday at the Circus
I spent today working a clown gig at a birthday event that included a circus. The work is always great but the best part is the people you get to be around, old friends and new ones too. It's a good life.

The Cartooning Life
At the end of cartooning class I teach, I always give the kids a coloring page they can take home. I've drawn a wide variety of characters and they generally like them. I've been cranking them out almost daily.

September Sky #3
Autumn has been slowly making it's presence known around here. The breeze has cooled considerably and the rainfall has definitely returned. It's about time. Nothing worse than a hot, dry Fall.

Kermit Quotes
I decided it would be nice to have some Muppet magic at work so I painted this. "Keep believing , keep pretending."

Catching Up
The last few months have been pretty fun and creative. In late January I was in a short play (cast in a couple of roles) about Emma Tenayuca, Mexican American labor leader , union organizer and educator. The play was presented at the McNay Art Museum for one evening only. I got to work with a wonderful cast and look forward to being a part of this wonderful ensemble soon.
