Dia de los Muertos

Tomorrow is el Dia de los Muertos when we remember those loved ones who have passed on. I'll be setting up the alter soon and putting out the treats my beloved family members enjoyed in life.

I thought this student film (below) from the Ringling School of Art and Design was wonderful in showing what Dia de los Muertos is all about and thought I'd post it here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Zombie Makeover

Pammy and I made up a friend for a Zombie Walk they had this weekend in downtown San Antonio. Are zombie walks pretty popular? Probably! It was a fun afternoon for us and our friend as well. More pics later. Bedtime now. Night, night.

Bunicula The Vampire Rabbit (1982)

Esther Perez Carvajal Early Childhood Education Center

I spent the better part of last Friday morning as Doc Ed, edu-taining the pre-k and kindergarteners at Esther Perez Carvajal Early Childhood Education Center on the westside of San Antonio.

It's a wonderful school right in the heart of a westside neighborhood catering to the needs of the youngest of students. The children that I had the pleasure of meeting that day were very enthusiastic, full of smiles and laughter and very well informed on water conservation thanks to the staff and faculty.

I had one group of entirely Spanish-speaking children who were a joy to educate and entertain. I'm not a master of Spanish language so I was a little nervous. But thanks to a lot of rehearsing and a great audience, it went very well and the kids had fun. That group seemed to be the youngest of the three I had that day.

I had such a fun time and I hope I can return there someday.

Below is a link to some interesting facts about the school's namesake.

Sunday Morning Matinee- The Adventures of Captain Marvel Serial (1941) Chapter 12

Sunday Morning Matinee- The Making of Mad Monster Party (19 )

Halloween is right around the corner! I love this time of year so much so starting today I'll be posting a variety of Halloween related material.  Rankin Bass has always produced some of the best and most memorable holiday classics for most every holiday.

I love Mad Monster Party because it combines monsters, stop motion animation and comedy in one package. In his documentary we get a glimpse of the creation of this wonderful film.

Below is a link with more info on this gem.
