Friday Roundup Continued
This is the cottage flat for the San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet's production which is playing this weekend at the Carver. The photos show the flat as it was when I received it, with a little primer I'd already applied to it before I realized I'd not taken a "before" photo. On the right is the completed flat fully changed to a cottage. The thatched roof was made using left over pieces of soft foam that was used to add snow to the "love" letters for the same show. Once the flat was picked up on Thursday morning the job was completed.
Pammy and I really had a good time with this job and hopefully we'll have some more prop and set work come our way from them. So far, three years, we've made puppets, a cage. an oven, plus the Snow Queen work and each time we've done work for them it's been a very enjoyable experience. They trust us and treat us respectfully, which I'm sad to say isn't always the case in this town...but I'm glad there are exceptions so there is hope.
Meanwhile, on the Doc Ed front, I did two "Edwards Aquifer: History of a Rockstar" shows for the 5th grade students at Wanke Elementary School on the northwest side of town. It was all part of World Water Monitoring Day, a worldwide event coordinated by the World Water Federation and the International Water Association.
" World Water Monitoring Challenge™ is an international education and outreach program that builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by engaging citizens to conduct basic monitoring of their local water bodies."
77,885 participants from forty three countries, so far, have taken part in the event in 2012 but the year is not over. For more on World Water Monitoring Day click here to go to their website.
