Punch and Judy Puppets
The wasn't much time for taking photos of the puppet making process given the tight deadline. Above is the beginning and below is the end result. I'm the one in the middle.
Below the puppets take well deserved rest after a full dress run thru. Note how Judy greedily eyes the bread.

Punch and Judy Puppets Costumes
Above and below: The "Punch" costume.
Above and below: The "Judy" costume.
We're in the middle of a marathon session to finish the Punch and Judy puppets for the "Hansel and Gretel" Ballet that poems this Friday. The puppets will appear in a scene that takes place a village where a number of characters are briefly introduced. We got a long night ahead of us. Above are the costumes for the puppets in the process of being made by the very talented Diana Mascilli .

Bunches of Hansel and Gretel Set Piece Photos
Detail of the finishing touches on the cage and the bags under my eyes.
Not bad.
Emi helps out too.
Painting in the first layer of color.
The papier mache is done.
Assembling and papier mache-ing the cage.
Jose helps me out.
My Dad is the best. He's outstanding! We spent the entire day this past Sunday (Halloween Sunday) finishing up the witch's oven for the ballet "Hansel and Gretel". Dad worked with such joy and enthusiasm reminding me to love the work you do and have fun doing it. He could outwork any person half his age any day of the week. He made some fine detail work for the face at the front of the oven and the letters on it's side. He's amazing and he's my Dad.
Construction of the the cage and oven is complete! Today was spent adding some finishing touches to both set pieces but there could be a little more work to come once we have a look at them under the stage lights. We'll see. In the meantime we added a little a "distressing" to them.
The next project fort the show are the Punch and Judy puppets. The costumes for them are being made by the talented Diana Mascelli. She actually finished them today and they look fantastic. Our task is to sculpt the heads, hands and feet for the puppets. Whew! We're almost done, though. Things are looking good. More photos tomorrow.
