Friday Roundup

Doc Ed playing with the Pre- K kids of the Jose Cardenas Headstart Center on the west side of San Antonio.

It's been a real busy week here at Rancho Ramirez especially for Doc Ed. On Wednesday alone there were five Doc Ed shows alone. Busy, busy, busy!

Our son is in the middle of rehearsal for a school play. It's a musical and it's all about pirates. It's all very exciting and we couldn't be prouder.

Early in the week we received a wonderful gift from our dear friend Art Avila of Raining Popcorn Media. It's seems he had an extra drawing table and offered it to us gratis. It's the best drawing table we've ever had and it's been put to good use already. I'll post a picture or two over the weekend. Thanks Art.

Now the weekend is upon us and we'll all be spending most of the time together. Maybe we'll catch a movie or head out to the park. It's a nice feeling to have a couple of days to relax. Life is good.

Abdou-mania !

Here's more of the fab Abdou collection. This time around we're visiting the Beatles Room.

On the Road with Doc Ed

The sky looked pretty ominous on my way down to Barrera Veterans Elementary yesterday morning. Fortunately all went well for the show I did there.

Showing off my pointing skills for the kids at Barrera Veterans Elementary.

This morning I made sure to pack my camera but despite that I still forgot to get some photos taken at Specht Elementary. Doh!! I did two shows there. The kids and teachers were great. After that I drove to Woodlawn Elementary for three more shows.

Workin' the magic at Woodlawn Elementary.

I point to where I got lost on the way to the school.

Hark! Is that the dinner bell I hear ringing? Just in time to refuel the batteries for the three shows I've got scheduled for tomorrow morning.

Out and About with Doc Ed

I took the above photo on Saturday after we came back from Manor, Texas.

This morning Doc Ed was at Barrera Elementary near Somerset. I'll post some photos tomorrow. Doc will be at two schools tomorrow for a total of five shows. Starting at 9:30a.m. he'll be at Specht Elementary for two shows then at 12:30p.m. at Woodlawn Elementary for three shows. There will be an hour between the two gigs and the schools are practically on the opposite sides of town so it'll make for an interesting drive. YEEEHAA!

From the Sketchbook- A Robot

Lately, I taken it upon myself to draw as often as possible. Last night we out for some Mexican food and, as usual, I brought along paper and markers for the kids to pass the time drawing while we waited for our food. Believe me- it helps.

I soon joined in on the fun. I drew the robot, who is a character from the Clone Wars cartoon series, on typing paper using Crayola markers. The next sketches might combine markers and Crayola crayons.

Fun Times!

Today I'd like to share some more images and a video from my visit to the Abdou residence to marvel at the incredible collection of puppets, vent figures and a whole lot of other wonderful treasures. The photos you see above and below are from his marionette- themed room though he has puppets of all sorts throughout his home. It's really an amazing sight. Keep in mind this is just one room. At the bottom of this post is a video showing off another part of his collection. Enjoy!
